Minecraft Ultimate Automatic Storage System Guide Wiki: Simple Item Sorter (2025) ๐ฆ
Welcome Gamers to the Racing Raftaar Wiki! ๐ฆ
Imagine this: You come back from a mining trip with a backpack full of Diamonds, Stone, and Dirt. Instead of spending 20 minutes organizing your chests, what if you could just dump everything into one chest, and the game organizes it for you?
This is called an Automatic Storage System. It is the heart of any pro survival world. Whether you have an Iron Farm or a Gold Farm, you need this system to handle the unlimited loot.
In this guide, we will build the most reliable and simple item sorter design. Let's get organized!
1. The Logic: How does it work? ๐ง
The system works on a simple Redstone principle: Signal Strength.
A Comparator reads how many items are inside a Hopper. When the Hopper has exactly 45 items, it gives a signal strength of 3. This signal turns OFF a Redstone Torch, which unlocks the hopper below it, allowing exactly one item to pass through.
This ensures that only the item you want (like Iron) is sucked in, while other items (like Dirt) pass over it.
2. Materials List ๐
This list is for ONE Module (one type of item). If you want to sort 10 different items, multiply this by 10.
| Item | Quantity | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Hoppers | 3 | To move items. |
| Chests | 2 (Double Chest) | Storage. |
| Redstone Dust | 3 | Wiring. |
| Redstone Torch | 1 | Locking mechanism. |
| Repeater | 1 | Signal boost. |
| Comparator | 1 | Reading items. |
| Building Blocks | 6 | Structure. |
Note: You will also need "Filter Items" (renamed sticks or dirt) to setup the system.
3. Step-by-Step Building Guide ๐️
Step 1: Place the Chests
Place your Double Chests where you want them. Place a Hopper pointing INTO the back of the chest.
Step 2: The Redstone Structure
Behind the chest hopper, build a shape that looks like a chair. It should be 3 blocks deep and 2 blocks high.
Step 3: Placing Components
- Place a Repeater facing into the block below the chest.
- Place a Redstone Torch on the front of that block (locking the bottom hopper).
- Place a Comparator on top, facing AWAY from the hopper.
- Place 3 Redstone Dust connecting the Comparator to the Repeater.
4. Setting up the Filter (The 41 Rule) ๐ง
Now, open the Top Hopper (the one pointing at the Comparator). We need to configure it so it only accepts ONE type of item.
The Configuration:
- Slot 1 (Left): Place 41 of the item you want to sort (e.g., 41 Iron Ingots).
- Slots 2, 3, 4, 5: Place 1 "Filler Item" in each slot.
5. Overflow Protection ๐ก️
What happens if your chests get full? The items will back up into the hopper system.
This design is "Overflow Proof." Even if the hoppers fill up to 64 items, the signal strength will not reach the next module (it stays at strength 3). This means you can build these modules right next to each other (Tileable) without leaving gaps.
6. Connecting to Farms ๐
This system is the perfect partner for your farms. You can connect it to:
- Iron Farm: Sort Iron Ingots and Poppies.
- Gold Farm: Sort Gold Nuggets, Ingots, and Flesh.
- Raid Farm: Sort Emeralds, Totems, and Books.
Use a water stream on top of the hoppers to transport items quickly. If you experience lag due to too many entities, check out our Lag Fix Guide.
