What is AFK Detector Addon?
AFK Detector Addon automatically tracks which players are idle in your Minecraft Bedrock world. It checks every 3 seconds whether a player has moved their position or rotated their head. If a player stays completely still for 2 minutes, the addon marks them as AFK, shows the [AFK] tag above their name, and sends a chat message so everyone else knows.
In Free mode you get the core detection with a 2-minute timer and basic chat announcement. Pro mode unlocks the full system — you can set the idle timer anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes, enable invincible protection so AFK players cannot be killed by mobs, see smoke particles rising above idle players, get a return message showing how long they were gone, and track detailed stats and a server leaderboard for the biggest AFK offenders.
This addon is built for SMP worlds, Realms, and any multiplayer setup where knowing who is active matters. No commands needed, no items to keep in hand. Just install and let the addon do the work.

AFK Messages
Free Mode — Player Goes AFK
Simple and clean. When a player has not moved for 2 minutes, this message appears in chat for all players to see.
Pro Mode — Player Goes AFK
[AFK] PlayerName is now AFK

When an AFK player finally moves, everyone sees a return message with the exact duration they were away. Great for knowing who just came back to the game.

The AFK player sees a live timer on their action bar updating every second. They know exactly how long they have been idle and get a reminder to move.

Pro Features Explained
Custom AFK Timer
Free mode detects AFK after exactly 2 minutes. Pro mode lets you choose anywhere from 1 minute to 10 minutes using the Settings Panel. A busy SMP server might want 5 minutes so players are not marked AFK during short breaks. A strict mini-game server might want just 1 minute to keep everyone active.
AFK Invincible Mode
When Invincible is turned on in Settings, any player marked as AFK automatically receives the Resistance status effect. This prevents mobs from dealing damage. An AFK player will not lose hearts to zombies, skeletons, creepers, or fall damage while they are away. The protection ends the moment they come back and the AFK tag is removed.
Smoke Particles
Smoke particles continuously rise above AFK players. In a busy world with many players, this makes it easy to spot who is idle at a glance without reading names or chat. Very useful in SMP worlds and Realms.
AFK Stats and Leaderboard
Every time you go AFK, the addon records it. Open the stats panel with Sneak + Book to see your total AFK count, total time spent AFK, your personal longest AFK session, and the duration of your last AFK. The leaderboard shows the top 5 players in your world ranked by total AFK time.
Announce Toggle
Use Sneak + Compass to toggle AFK announcements on or off for yourself. When off, the addon still tracks and marks you as AFK but does not send the chat message. Useful for players who want the protection and tag without broadcasting every time they step away.
Settings Panel (Pro Only)
Use Sneak + Clock to open the settings panel and configure the addon:

How To Unlock Pro Mode
- Get any Bed item — any color works (White, Red, Blue, etc.).
- Hold the Bed in your main hand.
- Hold Sneak (Shift on PC / Sneak button on Mobile).
- While sneaking, Use the Bed (Right Click on PC / Tap on Mobile).
- A panel opens asking for the Secret Key.
- Enter the key exactly as shown, then press Submit.
- Pro Mode is now active forever for that world.
A Bed is used because AFK means the player is resting — just like sleeping in a bed in Minecraft!
How To Test Alone
You can test this addon even in single player:
- Join your world with the addon installed and Beta APIs enabled.
- Put your phone or controller down and do not move at all.
- Wait 2 minutes without moving or looking around.
- You will see [AFK] YourName is now AFK appear in chat.
- Move your character and the [BACK] return message will show with your AFK duration.
