What is Health HUD?
Health HUD is a combat enhancement addon that displays real-time health information for every mob you look at directly on your screen. No more guessing how much damage you need to kill that Creeper. No more wondering if the boss is almost dead or still at full health. Health HUD shows you exact HP numbers, damage dealt, and combat statistics in a clean, non-intrusive interface.
When you look at any mob, their health bar appears on your action bar (the area above your hotbar) showing current HP, maximum HP, and a color-coded visual bar. In Pro Mode, every time you hit a mob, the exact damage number flies off them as floating text. When you kill a mob, you get a kill confirmation message with their type. And all your combat data is tracked permanently in detailed statistics.
This addon works seamlessly in single-player, Realms, and multiplayer servers. It uses the Script API to detect your view direction and calculate mob health in real-time. The system is incredibly lightweight and causes zero lag even when looking at multiple mobs simultaneously.
How It Works
Simply look at any mob. That is it. Health HUD automatically detects what you are looking at and displays their health information on your action bar. The system updates every 4 ticks (0.2 seconds) so the information is always current. If the mob takes damage from any source, you see the health bar decrease in real-time. If they heal, you see it increase.
The health bar uses a color-coded system that makes it easy to understand at a glance:
- Green Bar — Mob is above 50% HP (healthy)
- Yellow Bar — Mob is between 25-50% HP (hurt)
- Red Bar — Mob is below 25% HP (almost dead)
- Dark Red Bar — Mob is at 0% HP (dead/dying)
In Pro Mode, additional information appears including the mob's type classification (HOSTILE, PASSIVE, FRIENDLY, BOSS), their distance from you in blocks, and when you hit them, a bright red damage number showing exactly how much damage you dealt.

Free Mode — 10 Common Mobs
In Free Mode, health bars work for the 10 most common mobs you encounter in Minecraft:
- Zombie — The classic hostile mob
- Skeleton — Ranged archer mob
- Creeper — The explosive threat
- Spider — Wall-climbing hostile
- Enderman — Teleporting neutral mob
- Cow — Passive farm animal
- Pig — Rideable passive mob
- Sheep — Wool-producing animal
- Chicken — Egg-laying bird
- Wolf — Tameable canine
If you look at any other mob in Free Mode, you see a message: "[MOB NAME] [PRO ONLY] — Sneak + Name Tag to unlock". This reminds you that Pro Mode unlocks health bars for all 50+ mobs in the game.
Pro Mode Features Explained
All Mob Health Bars
Pro Mode unlocks health bars for every single mob in Minecraft Bedrock Edition. This includes all hostile mobs (Wither Skeleton, Phantom, Drowned, Pillager, Vindicator, Evoker, Ravager, Guardian, Elder Guardian, Warden, Piglin, Hoglin, Zoglin, Blaze, Witch, Ghast, Magma Cube, Slime, Silverfish, Cave Spider, Zombie Villager, Vex, Shulker), all passive mobs (Rabbit, Horse, Donkey, Mule, Llama, Fox, Bee, Turtle, Dolphin, Cod, Salmon, Squid, Glow Squid, Axolotl, Goat, Frog, Camel, Sniffer, Cat, Parrot, Panda, Polar Bear, Ocelot, Mooshroom, Strider), all friendly NPCs (Villager, Wandering Trader, Iron Golem, Snow Golem), and both bosses (Ender Dragon, Wither).
Damage Numbers
Every time you hit a mob in Pro Mode, a bright red floating text appears showing the exact damage dealt. For example, if you hit a Zombie with a Diamond Sword and deal 12 damage, you see "-12 DMG!" appear directly on your action bar. This feedback is instant and helps you understand your weapon's effectiveness, calculate how many hits you need to kill a mob, and track your combat performance in real-time.
Kill Messages
When you kill a mob in Pro Mode, you receive a special kill confirmation message showing the mob's name and type classification. For example: "☠ KILLED! HOSTILE ZOMBIE" or "☠ KILLED! BOSS ENDER DRAGON". This gives you satisfying combat feedback and confirms your kills during intense battles.
Mob Type Tags
Pro Mode categorizes every mob into four types and color-codes them:
- BOSS (Dark Red) — Ender Dragon, Wither
- HOSTILE (Red) — All aggressive mobs that attack on sight
- FRIENDLY (Bright Green) — Villagers, Iron Golems, traders
- PASSIVE (Green) — Farm animals, neutral creatures
This classification appears before the mob's name in the health display, making it instantly clear what you are dealing with.
Distance Display
The health bar shows how far the mob is from you in blocks. This is calculated using 3D distance (X, Y, Z coordinates) so it accounts for vertical distance too. The display shows: "[MOB NAME] [HEALTH BAR] | Xm" where X is the distance in meters (blocks). This helps you judge whether you are in range for melee attacks, bow shots, or need to get closer.
Combat Stats Tracker
Pro Mode tracks all your combat data permanently:
- Total Kills — How many mobs you have killed
- Total Damage Dealt — Sum of all damage you have ever dealt
- Total Hits — How many times you have hit mobs
- Average Damage Per Hit — Your average effectiveness
To view your stats, hold a Book, crouch, and use it. A detailed combat statistics screen appears showing all your numbers.
Kill Milestones
Every 50 kills, you receive a special milestone celebration with sound effects and a congratulatory message: "★ MILESTONE! X Kills!". This adds a progression system to combat and gives you goals to chase. Reaching 100 kills, 500 kills, or 1000 kills feels like a real achievement.

Perfect For

- SMP Servers — Everyone sees mob health for coordinated combat
- Speedrunners — Optimize damage and kill efficiency
- Content Creators — Show viewers exact mob HP during recordings
Tips and Tricks
- The health bar updates every 0.2 seconds, so it is always accurate even during fast combat.
- Damage numbers appear for exactly 2 seconds (40 ticks) after each hit, giving you time to see them clearly.
- The 10-block view range in Free Mode is enough for most melee combat. Pro Mode's 20-block range is better for bow users.
- Boss health bars show the full HP pool, which is 200 for Ender Dragon and 300 for Wither. This helps you plan your attack strategy.
- Kill milestones trigger at 50, 100, 150, 200, etc. They include sound effects and title messages for celebration.
- Combat stats are saved permanently using world dynamic properties. They persist across server restarts and game sessions.
- If multiple mobs are in your view direction, the addon shows the health of the closest one.
- The addon is behavior-pack only. No resource pack needed. Zero performance impact on your game.
