Updated: Dec 2025 • Version: 1.21+ • Difficulty: ⭐⭐
⚡ Quick Summary: We use an Observer to see when the Sugar Cane grows. When it grows to 3 blocks high, a Piston breaks it automatically. The items fall into water and go into your chest.

Welcome Gamers to the Racing Raftaar Wiki! ๐ŸŽ‹

So, you finally built the Ultimate Creeper Farm and have chests full of Gunpowder. But you still can't fly with your Elytra. Why? Because you are missing the most important ingredient: PAPER.

Paper is not just for books; it is the fuel for flight. Also, did you know that trading Paper with Librarians is the easiest way to get Emeralds in your Trading Hall?

In this guide, we will build a fully automatic Sugar Cane farm. You can go AFK, and when you return, you will be rich!

1. The Science: Observer & Piston ๐Ÿง

Sugar Cane has a special rule: It can only grow if there is Water right next to the block it is planted on.

Our farm uses a simple robot logic:

  1. The Observer watches the Sugar Cane.
  2. When the cane grows to 3 blocks high, the Observer sends a Redstone signal.
  3. This signal activates a Piston.
  4. The Piston punches the cane, breaking it.
  5. The items fall into a water stream and flow into your storage.

2. Materials List ๐Ÿ“ฆ

You can make this farm as small or as big as you want. Gather these items:

ItemQuantityUse
Sugar Cane1 StackThe Seed.
Observers1 StackThe "Eyes".
Pistons1 StackThe "Hands".
Redstone Dust1 StackWiring.
Water Bucket2Infinite Source.
Hoppers2-4Collection.

3. Step-by-Step Build Guide ๐Ÿ—️

Step 1: The Water Trench

Dig a straight line (8 blocks long) and fill it with water. Sugar Cane needs this water to survive.

Step 2: Planting

Plant Sugar Cane on the dirt/sand blocks next to the water. Do this on both sides of the water for maximum efficiency.

Step 3: The Pistons

Place a row of blocks behind the Sugar Cane. On top of those blocks, place Pistons facing towards the cane.

Step 4: The Observers

On top of the Pistons, place Observers. Make sure the "Face" of the Observer is looking at the Sugar Cane (where it will grow).

Step 5: Wiring

Place a solid block behind each Piston. Put Redstone Dust on top of these blocks. This connects the Observer to the Piston.

๐Ÿ’ก Glass Walls: Always cover the front of the farm with Glass. Sugar Cane "pops" when it breaks, and without a wall, it will fly out of the farm and you will lose loot.

4. The Bedrock Secret (Bone Meal Trick) ๐Ÿ“ฑ

If you play on Mobile (MCPE/Bedrock), you have a superpower!

In Java Edition, Bone Meal does NOT work on Sugar Cane. But in Bedrock, it does! You can place a Dispenser full of Bone Meal pointing at the Sugar Cane. Connect it to a fast Redstone clock.

This will grow the cane instantly! You can get 1000+ items in just a few minutes. This is called a "Zero-Tick" or "Micro Farm."

5. Trading & Crafting Rockets ๐Ÿš€

Now that your Storage System is full of Sugar Cane, turn it into Paper.

Trading Paper with Librarian Villager

A. Firework Rockets (Flight)

Combine 1 Paper + 3 Gunpowder to make Flight Duration 3 Rockets. This is the best fuel for long-distance travel in the End or Overworld.

B. Emerald Trading (Money)

Find a Librarian Villager. Their first trade is usually "24 Paper for 1 Emerald."

  • Infect and cure the Villager using our Curing Guide.
  • The price will drop to 1 Paper = 1 Emerald.
  • One stack of Paper = 64 Emeralds! You are now rich.
