What is Rank Tags?
Rank Tags brings server-style player ranks to Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Every player gets a colored rank tag displayed above their head — just like on a real Minecraft server. The tag shows automatically and updates in real time as ranks change.
The first player to join the world becomes the Owner automatically — no commands, no setup. As Owner, you open the Rank Panel to assign ranks to other players. Admins can also manage lower ranks. The rank hierarchy ensures no one can promote others above their own level.
Free Mode gives you 3 ranks — Owner, Member, and Guest. Pro Mode unlocks all 6 ranks, custom colors for each player, nicknames, emotes, player mentions, quick chat, clear chat, and a full stats panel.

10 Custom Rank Colors (Pro)
In Pro Mode, Owner and Admin can set a custom color for any player's rank tag. The color overrides the default rank color, letting you create unique looks for special players.

How To Use
- Install the addon and enter the world. The first player to join is automatically set as Owner.
- Hold a Name Tag and Sneak + Use to open the Rank Panel.
- Select Set Rank, choose the player, then choose a rank to assign.
- The rank tag above that player's head updates instantly.
- In Pro Mode — also set custom colors, nicknames, and use emotes from the Compass Chat Tools.
Note: Only Owner and Admin can open the Rank Panel. Regular Members and Guests cannot assign ranks. Rank Hierarchy is enforced — you cannot assign a rank higher than your own rank level.
How To Unlock Pro Mode
- Hold a Name Tag in your main hand.
- Hold Sneak and Use the Name Tag to open the Rank Panel.
- Select Unlock Pro Mode from the dropdown.
- Enter the Secret Key in the field shown.
- Press Submit. Pro Mode unlocks for everyone in the world instantly!

How To Install
- Download the .mcpack file using the download button below.
- Tap or click the file. Minecraft opens and imports the Behavior Pack automatically.
- Create a new world or edit an existing one.
- Go to Settings > Experiments and enable Beta APIs.
- Add the Behavior Pack to your world.
- Enter the world — rank tags appear above heads instantly!

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Who becomes the Owner automatically?
The very first player to join the world is automatically set as Owner. This only happens once — when no owner has been set yet. After that, only the Owner can assign the Owner rank to someone else manually from the Rank Panel.
Q: Can Admin set other Admins?
No. The Rank Hierarchy prevents anyone from assigning a rank equal to or higher than their own. Admin can set Mod, VIP, Member, and Guest. Only Owner can set Admin rank. This prevents rank abuse in shared worlds.
Q: Do nicknames change the actual player name?
No. Nicknames only change the display name shown above the player's head in the name tag. The player's actual Minecraft account name stays the same. The world chat shows the nickname in messages, but the real name is still stored internally.
Q: Do ranks save when players leave and rejoin?
Yes! All ranks, nicknames, and colors are saved using Dynamic Properties and persist across sessions. A player rejoining the world keeps their rank exactly as it was when they left. No need to reassign ranks every session.
Q: What does Mention Player do?
When you mention a player using Chat Tools (Sneak + Compass → Mention Player), it sends a message to all chat showing their name in blue with an @ symbol. The mentioned player receives a sound notification (note.pling) and a title on their screen saying who mentioned them.
Q: Who can use Clear Chat?
Only Owner and Admin with Pro Mode active can use Clear Chat (Sneak + Clock). It sends 50 blank lines to every player's chat, effectively clearing the visible chat history for everyone in the world simultaneously.
Q: Does this work in multiplayer and Realms?
Yes! Rank Tags is designed for multiplayer. All ranks, tags, colors, and nicknames are visible to all players in the world. Works on Realms and local multiplayer with any number of players. The leaderboard in the Stats Panel ranks all online players by messages sent.
Q: Do I need a Resource Pack?
No! Rank Tags is Behavior Pack only. Just one pack to install — no Resource Pack needed. The rank tags use Minecraft's built-in name tag system so everything works without any extra textures or models.
