[MCPE 1.21+] RR Soul Guard Addon: Secure Death Grave & Anti-Loot System (Death Chest Script)
The core of the Minecraft survival experience lies in the accumulation of resources. You spend hours, sometimes weeks, mining for diamonds, ancient debris, and enchanting your gear to the highest level. However, this progress is extremely fragile. A single mistake—a miscalculated jump into lava, a surprise Creeper explosion, or simply getting lost in the deep dark—can lead to total resource loss. When you die, your items scatter, and you have exactly five minutes to retrieve them before they despawn forever.
For players on multiplayer servers or Survival Multiplayer (SMP) worlds, the risk is even higher. Not only do you have to fight the despawn timer, but you also have to worry about other players looting your death location before you can return. This led me to develop the RR Soul Guard Addon. This script provides a technical solution to death-related item loss by creating a secure, locked container at the exact coordinates of your demise.
In this technical overview, I will explain the logic behind the "Grave System," the biometric lock security features, and the steps required to implement this protection in your 1.21+ world.
Advanced Death Logic and Mechanics
Unlike basic "Keep Inventory" cheats that remove the risk from the game entirely, RR Soul Guard maintains the challenge of survival while adding a layer of security. The addon utilizes the `entityDie` event from the Minecraft Script API. The moment a player's health reaching zero, the script performs a rapid calculation of the player's entire inventory, including armor slots and off-hand items.
The script then identifies the nearest solid ground to the death point. If the death occurs in a hazard like lava or the void, the script is programmed to find the safest adjacent block to place the container. This prevents your items from being destroyed by environment hazards or becoming inaccessible.
The Lava-Proof Grave System
One of the most requested features was protection against lava. Traditional item-dropping mechanics result in instant incineration of non-netherite gear. RR Soul Guard handles this by creating a block-based "Grave" (Chest) that is immune to fire and explosions. Even if the death message shows you were "burnt to a crisp," your loot remains intact inside the container.
Features: Free Tier vs Pro Security
The addon is designed to work efficiently for single-player users while offering high-security options for SMP administrators. By default, the addon operates in Free Mode.
1. Standard Grave (Free Mode)
This mode focuses on the survival aspect of preventing item despawning.
- Automatic Storage: All items are transferred to a chest at the death location.
- Double Chest Logic: If your inventory is full (including hotbar and armor), the script intelligently generates a Double Chest tower to ensure not a single item is left on the ground.
- Anti-Despawn: The container is a block, not an entity, meaning it will stay in the world indefinitely until you open it.
2. Owner-Locked Protection (Pro Mode)
In a multiplayer environment, theft is a constant issue. Pro Mode introduces "Soul Binding," which makes the death container accessible only to the player who died.
- Biometric Owner Lock: The script saves the unique UUID of the deceased player to the grave. Any other player attempting to open or break the chest will be met with an "Access Denied" event.
- Anti-Break Protection: The grave cannot be destroyed by other players or TNT. This prevents "grief-looting" where players blow up a grave to scatter the items.
- Beacon Indicator: A glowing green beam shoots up from the grave toward the sky, serving as a beacon to help the owner find their death location from several hundred blocks away.
Unlocking Pro Security Features
To enable the Owner-Lock and Beacon features, you must authenticate the script using the master key. This activation is global for the world once applied by an administrator.
Step-by-Step Activation:
- Obtain a Recovery Compass in-game (either via crafting or `/give @s recovery_compass`).
- Hold the Recovery Compass and Long Press on the screen to open the Security Interface.
- Enter the following authentication code into the text field:
Once you see the "UNLOCKED" notification, the Soul Binding protocol is active. Any future death will generate a protected, beacon-enabled grave for all players in the session.
Installation and Script Requirements
Because this addon monitors death events and handles block placement via code, it requires specific Minecraft experimental features to be enabled. Failure to enable these will result in the script engine not initializing.
- Download the .mcpack file from the link below.
- Import the file into Minecraft and apply the Behavior Pack to your world.
- In the World Settings, navigate to the Experiments tab.
- Turn ON "Beta APIs". This is the most critical step for script-based addons.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this work with other addons?
Yes. RR Soul Guard is a standalone script that does not modify the player's behavior file (`player.json`). This ensures 100% compatibility with other popular addons.
What happens if I die in the Void?
The script is programmed to detect the `y` coordinate. If you die in the void, the grave will attempt to spawn at `y = 0` (or the lowest solid block available) to ensure you can still retrieve your gear.
Can the Owner Lock be bypassed by OP players?
No, the biometric lock is strict. However, an Operator can use the admin interface to reset a grave if a player is unable to return to it.
