Minecraft Ultimate Wool Farm Guide Wiki: Unlimited Beds & Carpets (2025) ๐
Welcome Gamers to the Racing Raftaar Wiki! ๐
Are you planning to go for Netherite Mining? If yes, you know the drill: You need BEDS. Lots of them. To make beds, you need stacks of Wood and WOOL.
Or maybe you are a builder who loves colorful Carpets, Banners, and Wool blocks. Running around a field with Shears chasing sheep is slow and boring.
Today, we will build a compact, fully automatic Wool Farm. You can build 16 of these modules to get every color in the game automatically!
1. The Science: Eating & Regrowing ๐ง
This farm relies on a specific behavior of Sheep:
- Eating: A Sheep must eat Grass (from a Dirt block) to regrow its wool. When it eats, the "Grass Block" turns into a "Dirt Block".
- Detection: An Observer watches this block. When it changes from Grass to Dirt, the Observer sends a signal.
- Shearing: The signal fires a Dispenser holding Shears. The sheep gets a haircut instantly!
- Collection: A Hopper Minecart sits under the block to catch the wool before it despawns.
2. Materials List ๐ฆ
This list is for ONE Module (One Sheep). Multiply this by 16 for a full rainbow farm.
| Item | Quantity | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Dispenser | 1 | Holds Shears. |
| Observer | 1 | Detects eating. |
| Hopper Minecart | 1 | Pulls items through blocks. |
| Rail | 1 | Holds the minecart. |
| Glass | 8-10 | Keeps sheep inside. |
| Shears | 1-9 | The tool. |
| Sheep | 1 | The worker. |
Note: You need lots of Iron for Shears. Build an Iron Farm first!
3. Step-by-Step Build Guide ๐️
Step 1: The Collection System
Dig a hole 2 blocks deep. Place a Chest and a Hopper pointing into it. Place a Rail on top of the Hopper, and put a Hopper Minecart on the rail.
Place a Grass Block directly above the Minecart. This is where the sheep will stand.
Step 2: The Redstone
Place an Observer facing the Grass Block (the red dot should be on the back). Place a solid block behind the Observer with a Redstone dot on it.
Place a Dispenser on top of the Observer, facing the Grass Block. Fill it with Shears.
Step 3: Grass Spreading (Crucial!)
Grass needs to spread back to the center block after the sheep eats it. To make this happen fast, surround the central Grass Block with other Grass Blocks. If you leave it alone, the dirt will take forever to turn back into grass, and your farm will be slow.
Step 4: The Sheep Pod
Build a glass cage around the Grass Block so the sheep cannot escape. It should be 2 blocks high. Use a Lead or Wheat to lure a sheep inside.
4. How to get 16 Colors? ๐จ
You don't need to dye the wool items. You can dye the Sheep directly!
- Right-click a Sheep with any Dye (e.g., Red Dye).
- The sheep turns Red permanently.
- Even after you shear it, it will regrow Red Wool.
Build 16 modules, one for each color (White, Orange, Magenta, Light Blue, Yellow, Lime, Pink, Gray, Light Gray, Cyan, Purple, Blue, Brown, Green, Red, Black).
5. Uses: Bed Bombing & Trading ๐ฐ
Now that you have unlimited wool, check your Storage System.
A. Bed Bombing (Netherite)
Craft Beds (3 Wool + 3 Planks). Go to the Nether at Y-level 15. Place a bed and try to sleep. It will explode! This explosion reveals Ancient Debris (Netherite). This is the fastest mining method.
B. Trading
Shepherd Villagers buy Wool for Emeralds. If you have a Trading Hall, this is a great source of income.
